FAQ
Is Ameen really free?
Yes. Every feature is included, with no subscriptions, ads or locked features.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Nothing is sent to us. If you turn on Google Drive backup, a copy is stored in your own Google Drive, in a private app folder only Ameen can read.
How do totals work with several currencies?
By default Ameen shows one total per currency, so AED and USD stay separate. Turn off Totals per Currency in the accounts settings to convert everything into your base currency using daily exchange rates (you can set your own rates too).
What are account groups?
Groups like Banks, Cash or Cards that you name yourself. Each group shows its own total. Create one when adding or editing an account, or under Accounts, Settings, Account Groups. Dragging an account into another group moves it there.
Why does Ameen ask for my location?
To remember where you added each transaction, so you can see "📍 Dubai" on it later and search by city. Only the city is shown. You can turn it off in Settings, Location Tagging.
Can I import my Cashew data?
Yes. Ameen is based on Cashew, so a Cashew backup file (.sql or .sqlite) can be imported from the backup settings.
Can I import a CSV from my bank?
Yes. Use Import CSV in settings and match the columns to date, amount, title and category.
Does the web app sync with my phone?
Yes, when you sign in with the same Google account on both and turn on sync in the backup settings.
Why does the AED sign look different?
Ameen uses the new UAE Dirham sign introduced in 2025. Where the sign can't be displayed, such as home screen widgets, amounts show as AED.
Is Ameen open source?
Yes, under GPL-3.0. The source is on GitHub. Ameen is based on Cashew by James Kokoska.
How do I delete all my data?
In the app, open More, About Us, Delete All Data. If you used Google Drive backup, you can also delete the backups from the backup settings or from your Google Drive.
