Privacy Policy

Ameen ("the app") is a personal budgeting app developed by Zaid Shaikh. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. In short: your financial data stays with you.

Data stored on your device

Transactions, accounts, budgets, categories, goals, settings and attachments you add are stored locally on your device (or in your browser for the web app). We do not run a server that receives this data.

Google sign-in and Google Drive (optional)

If you choose to sign in with Google, the app uses Google Sign-In to access:

• Google Drive app data folder (drive.appdata): to store your backups and sync data in a private folder that only Ameen can access.
• Files created by the app (drive.file): only if you attach photos or files to transactions, stored in an "Ameen" folder in your Drive.

Ameen cannot see any other files in your Google Drive. Your name, email and profile picture from Google are shown in the app only. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide backup, sync and attachments, and is never sold, shared or used for advertising. Ameen's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Feedback

If you send feedback from within the app, the message (and an email address if you provide one) is stored so we can read and reply to it.

Exchange rates

To convert currencies, the app downloads public exchange rates. This request contains no personal or financial data.

Analytics and advertising

Ameen contains no ads and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Location

When Location Tagging is on (the default), Ameen asks for location permission and saves the position where you add a new transaction, so you can later see the city it was added in. The exact coordinates are stored with the transaction on your device, and in your Google Drive backups if you use them. The city name is looked up by your phone's built-in geocoding service. Location is never sent to us. You can turn Location Tagging off in Settings at any time, or deny the permission.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. If you enable notification-based transaction entry on Android, notifications are read on your device only to create transactions and are not sent anywhere.

Deleting your data

Delete all data from More, About Us, Delete All Data, or uninstall the app. Delete Drive backups from the app's backup settings or from your Google account (Drive, Settings, Manage apps).

Children

Ameen is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We will update this page if the policy changes and change the date at the top.
